Savannah Riverkeeper is proud to be a sponsor of the 2nd Annual Savannah River Classic fishing tournament is scheduled to be held on Friday, April 30 and Saturday May 1, 2010. All anglers are encouraged to register to compete this year for even bigger prizes. There were numerous participants from Allendale, Barnwell, Bamberg, and Hampton counties at last year's event but we would like to see anglers from all over the state of Georgia participate in this year's tournament as well. Prizes will be awarded for the three largest fish in each of six species – Striped Bass, Catfish, Largemouth Bass, and Panfish (bream, shellcracker, crappie, readbreast). There will also be a prize for the biggest 3 species aggregate weight. Youth anglers will receive participation prizes as well as prizes for their catch!
The results for last year's tournament can be found here

- Adopt-A-Stream Chemical/Biological Monitoring Classes
Training sessions held by Adopt-A-Stream can lead to AAS monitoring certification for the state of Georgia: one for chemical monitoring and one for biological monitoring. Certification requires completion of the course and you need to pass a test which is administered at the end of the session. Certification is good for a year, so remember to get re-certified. The course is free. Registration is required. There is limited space in the teaching facility and limited access to the creek; maximum enrollment is 25.
