OUR STORYSavannah Riverkeeper was founded in 2001 by a group of concerned citizens determined to address the growing environmental and water management challenges in the Savannah River Basin. Faced with pollution, low oxygen levels, and rising freshwater demands, they sought to protect the river from industrial expansion and groundwater depletion.
By joining the global Waterkeeper Alliance, a network of over 290 organizations advocating for clean and healthy waterways, Savannah Riverkeeper embraced a grassroots, citizen-driven approach to safeguard the watershed. |
