Frequently Asked Questions
How can I become a volunteer?
Complete the volunteer signup form with your information. Check out the list of volunteer opportunities and select the project or event you are interested in.
I have just signed up online, now what?
Thank you for taking the time to sign up. We could not do our important work without help from supporters like you! Your e-mail address has now been added to our list of volunteers and you will be contacted when we have announcements or volunteering opportunities like cleanup dates and fundraisers.
I would like to volunteer for an upcoming event. How do I join the team?
Events are also listed under volunteer opportunities. If you would like to serve on a planning committee, please e-mail [email protected] to let us know!
I am interested in organizing a cleanup for my club, scout, school, church, or other group. How do we do so?
We are happy to facilitate group cleanups. We can direct you to locations in need as well as provide gloves, trash bags, as well as connect you with additional volunteers if necessary. Click here to host a cleanup or You can Click Here to E-mail us with any questions about scheduling your event.
I am interested in organizing a cleanup or service day for my company. How do I do so?
Volunteer days are amazing team-building experiences and a great way to give back to the community. We regularly host our corporate partners for cleanups and projects! Please click here to e-mail Mary to learn more and schedule your event.
Can you sign off on service hours for my school, company, club or civic group?
Yes. If you serve as a volunteer for a Savannah Riverkeeper-hosted event or cleanup, we can vouch for your good work. Contact a member of our staff prior to your outing or at check-in to let us know.
If you have court-ordered community service hours, you must sign up with us ahead of time. Come to SRK headquarters at 328 Riverfront Drive, Augusta, GA 30901 between 9:00am-3:00pm M-F to fill out your paperwork.
Are children allowed at volunteer events?
Yes. Volunteering is fun and builds character! Children under age 14 are welcome to volunteer at events when accompanied by an adult (can be a teacher, mentor, scout leader, etc.). Those under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign their volunteer waiver to work solo.
Volunteer events take different forms: please be mindful of the unsanitary conditions of trash cleanups, the danger of working with tools and heavy equipment, natural hazards like plants and wildlife, and of course the risk of drowning when working on or near waterways. We kindly ask that you monitor young children at all times to ensure everyone's safety and enjoyment.
